You ever have those passages that stick out to you so much while you’re reading Scripture? Well, Psalm 86:11-13 was that for me! When I read this the first time, I remember being so moved! I kept thinking there’s just so much to unpack in these three verses. How can I just read this once and that be enough? I remember picking up my phone and texting my husband saying something along the lines of “this passage of Scripture is wrecking my heart in such a great way!” Check it out:
Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. For great is your steadfast love toward me, you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
Psalm 86:11-13
I didn’t just read it once; I found myself returning to theses verses time and time again–longing for my heart to be united to fear God’s name! So then came a challenge:
Meditate, Memorize, and Model this passage!
Over the next few weeks, I’ll take a segment of this passage and we’ll just look at it together. I’ll let you in on what God has been revealing to me as I’ve meditated on it through different studies! At the end of this little series, hopefully we’ll have memorized this passage, but also that we’ve been able to model this passage through our daily lives!
What if we all started meditating, memorizing, and modeling this passage?
What would our lives look like?
How would God be glorified in and through us?
How would this passage change the way we interact with our friends and our enemies?
I would love for you to join in on this journey!!
Let’s start the conversation now:
What do you notice in these three verses? What sticks out to you?
What are you challenged by?
What are you encouraged by?
