Bible Reading Journey

I’m excited to kick off the Bible Reading Journey! I’m using the Blue Letter Bible One-Year Blended Plan! Click below to download yours!

I’ve always been intimidated by daily plans because life gets crazy and I always get done on myself if I don’t do it daily. I fall behind and catching up always seemed like too much! However, what I’ve learned is GRACE! The goal of reading the Word is not about doing it but who you’re spending time with–God. See each day as time to be with the Creator, the Savior, your Father! That mindset is important! The second thing–do it with friends! I’m walking through the reading plan with a group of ladies from church! I can’t wait to see what God teaches all of us! Our goal is to occasionally meet up and just hang out and talk about the Lord!

Every so often, I’ll update this blog and update it with questions, comments, thoughts, or things God is teaching me as I’m reading through the word! I would love for you to join in on the journey! I’m using the hashtag #BibleReadingJourney and would love to hear what God is teaching you! You can also comment here on the blog! But let’s start a conversation about God!

February 19: Exodus 7-8
When the plagues (not a good thing), come to the Egyptians over and over again; God says the plagues are actually for good because the goal is: “that you may know I am the Lord.”
Think about your own life? What is God using in your life “sot hat you may know I am the Lord”?

February 18: Exodus 4-6, Mark 15-16
The Bible makes it abundantly clear there will be suffering. Moses started experiencing suffering shortly after starting his journey of obedience–his own people were questioning God’s clear plan. What did Moses do? Talked to the Lord about it. What did God do? He reminded him of WHO HE WAS!
I think so often our eyes get fixed on the circumstances of suffering instead of focusing on God who is with us in the midst of our suffering. When Moses sought the Lord, his perspective shifted where he could continue to walk in obedience with the Lord!
What about in your life? How are you facing suffering? Do you run away or towards God?

February 17: Exodus 1-3
We’ve all been called to GO and Share Jesus, but how often do we not? Most of the reason we don’t is because we’re scared. Ever been there?? Moses did too! God’s answer: I will be WITH you!

February 16: Isaiah 65-66, Mark 14
How often are you watching and praying “that you may not enter into temptation”? This was Jesus’ encouragement to Peter! Our flesh is WEAK and we NEED the Holy Spirit to strength us!

February 15: Isaiah 62-64
How is God molding you? Are you allowing yourself to be molded by the Potter? What’s keeping you from surrendering to God’s sculpting of your life?

February 14: Isaiah 59-61
How often do you rejoice in the Lord? Maybe take some time today to genuinely rejoice in Him!

February 13: Isaiah 56-58
Do you keep justice? Are you doing righteousness? Are you keeping the Sabbath? Are you keeping your hands from evil?

February 12: Isaiah 53-55, Mark 13
We have peace through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Where do you find peace? The only true peace is found in Jesus!

February 11: Isaiah 50-52, Mark 12
Mark 12:30-31 is a great heart check. Are you really loving with ALL?

February 10: 47-49
The Lord teaches you which way to go. BUT do you pay attention? If you pay attention there is peace and righteousness.

February 9: Isaiah 45-46, Mark 11
T.R.U.T.H.
Do you know what that is? How about your standard for truth? Do es your standard for truth change? Has your truth proved itself over the course of time? God’s word is clear: “I, the Lord, speak truth. I declare what is right.” Want to find truth? Want to know the standard for truth? See unchanging truth? And see the truth that proves itself time and time again? CHECK OUT the Bible!

February 8: Isaiah 43-44
Woah!! This has me in awe of how personal our God is! He desires you! He wants you! He formed you! He chooses you! He created you! He gives you purpose… AND even when YOU forget, He hasn’t forgotten! It’s clear this is the truth. It’s right here in these chapters (and throughout Scripture). What lies do you need to put to death in order to live in the truth?

February 7: Isaiah 41-42
I think far too often all we see is darkness and rough roads. But God promises to turn dark to light and rough to level! Is there anything in your life you can be asking God to turn into light or level?

February 6: Isaiah 39-40, Mark 10
Are you crying out to Jesus saying, “Have mercy on me?” What’s interesting to me about this passage is the man recognized his need for mercy. We must be in a position to recognize our inability to heal ourselves in order to experience healing from God!

February 5: Isaiah 37-29, Mark 9
“All things are possible for one who believes”
Are you doubting? Are you unsure? Are you struggling God will do what He says he will do? Ask Him to help you where you don’t believe.

February 4: Isaiah 34-36
If only I took this verse more seriously…Isaiah 35:3-4

February 3: Isaiah 32-33, Mark 8
Is your focus on the things of God or the things of man?

February 2: Isaiah 30-31, Mark 7
What comes out of you, starts within. How does the “inner you” look? Some of these categories (Mark 7:21-22) are pretty broad–covering a multitude of sin. For me, it’s the evil thoughts. How many times do my thoughts not line up with God’s? Far too often!

February 1: Isaiah 28-29
Who do you receive counsel from? God is a WONDERFUL COUNSELOR!

January 31: Isaiah 26-27, Mark 6
If only we would recognize our “sick” sinful hearts, maybe we would be RUNING towards Jesus too! Help me, Jesus, to recognize my own sickness so I can be healed by You!

January 30: Isaiah 23-25
What’s crazy to me is that verse one (25:1) comes right after God’s judgement on the earth. Why can they praise God for the “wonderful things”? God is the perfect judge! He brings and is perfect peace!

January 29: Isaiah 20-22
I’m amazed at God’s love for sinful people. Time and time again, God restores sinful people (aka ME). Have you experienced restoration from sin? What is God doing in your life to draw you close to Him?

January 28: Isaiah 17-19, Mark 5
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve begged God to do something and instead of giving me what I want, he gives me the same command: Go,Make, Baptize, Teach. It’s not that dissimilar from what Jesus told the demon possessed man who had been set free! Are you okay with not getting what you beg for and trusting God’s will? What holds you back from surrendering to God’s way first?

January 27: Isaiah 14-16
The Lord has purpose. We may not like it. We may not want it. But God’s purpose is for our good and his glory! Do you believe that?

January 26: Isaiah 11-13, Mark 4
God controls everything! The winds and the seas obey Him. With that truth, brings peace. Do you live in God’s peace?

January 25: 9-10
How have you seen God be Wonderful? Counselor? Mighty God? Everlasting Father? Prince of Peace?

January 24: Isaiah 7-8, Mark 3
Let’s fear God more than we fear man! What about you? Do you fear God or fear man?

January 23: Isaiah 5-6, Mark 2
Oh the joy of recognizing we have a sick sin problem. If only we lived as though we knew we were sick, for the physician to heal us! Take your sick sin problem to Jesus. Lay it at His feet! It’s okay to not have it all together! When was the last time you talked to the physician about your problems? Today may be a great day to start!

January 22: Isaiah 3-4
Do my words and actions speak FOR or AGAINST the glory of God?

January 21: Isaiah 1-2
Am I described as willing and obedient OR refusing and rebelling?

January 20: Genesis 49-50, Romans 16
I love how Paul took time to greet other believers in church and with each greet came some personalized note.
How could you “greet” other believers with encouragement today? How could you encourage them in the Gospel?

January 19: Genesis 46-48, Romans 15
Romans 15:20 is quite the challenge!
What’s your life ambition?
Does it line up with God’s ambition for your life?

January 18: Genesis 43-45
From our limited vantage point, it’s hard to see what God is up to–especially in suffering. But God is at work all around you.
Do you trust He goes before you?
Do you trust He’s in it with you?
Do you trust He’s there after you?

January 17: Genesis 41-42, Romans 14
Are you pursuing peace? Are you mutual upbuilding?
I feel like far too often this is NO. But if can a YES!
WHY?
Because the Holy Spirit is living and active!
Let God do a work in your life to pursue peace and be mutual upbuilding!

January 16: Genesis 39-40, Romans 13
Do you ever feel forgotten?
Remember God sent Jesus to be WITH you!
Rest in Him.

January 15: Genesis 36-38, Romans 12
Are you:
Genuinely loving?
Hating evil?
Loving?
Showing honor?
Serving the Lord?
Rejoicing in hope?
Patient in tribulation?
Constant in prayer?
Helping others’ needs?
Showing hospitality?
Blessing your enemies?
(I’m feeling quite convicted!)

January 14: Genesis 33-35, Romans 11
God’s character struck me today: MERCY and GRACE.
How have you experienced God’s mercy and grace? How can you give God glory for how you’ve experienced mercy and grace?

January 13: Genesis 31-32
When Jacob was afraid, he took his fear to the Lord.
What about you? Do you give your fear, worry, and anxiety to the Lord?

January 12: Genesis 29-30, Romans 10
Jacob deceived to get the birthright. Laban deceived Jacob to get Leah AND Rachel. Just because deception worked in your favor once, doesn’t mean it will happen again!
Are you a person of tricker, deceit, or manipulation?
Sometimes I think we see deceitfulness as acceptable because we want what we want when we want it. TRUTH: it’s sinful!
What’s crazy: God showed mercy in spite of sin.

January 11: Genesis 27-28
Jacob’s character Traits: Liar, Deceiver, Cheater
BUT
He’s found in the lineage of Jesus
Maybe you have similar traits and you’ve lied, deceived, and cheated–there’s time to turn towards God with repentance!
You’re not disqualified for being used by God because of your past!
How can you let God transform you from your past to present?

January 10: Genesis 25-26, Romans 9
1. Isaac fell into the same sin as his dad. Ever feel like sin repeats in generations? Ask the Lord to show you the way of escape?
2. Want to know how to eliminate fear? KNOW GOD!

January 9: Genesis 23-24
How much are you trusting God’s plan for your life?

January 8: Genesis 20-22, Romans 8
Things you think about matter!
1. Flesh —-> Death
Is your mind set on things of the flesh (like the things you can’t take with you when you die)?
2. Spirit —-> Life & Peace
Is your mind set on the Spirit (God and His Kingdom)?

January 7: Genesis 18-19, Romans 7
But for God Almighty, nothing is too hard!
Are you like Sarah laughing at the promise of God or are you patiently, faithfully waiting for the fulfillment of the his promise–even if it doesn’t happen the way you think it should?

January 6: Genesis 16-17, Romans 6
Today we not only see God be might over barrenness, but also over sin. “I am God Almighty.”
Do you really believe that? Do you really live like he’s God Almighty?

January 5: Genesis 13-15, Romans 5
1. How’s your attitude with suffering? Do you rejoice or spend it complaining? (Romans 4:3-4)
2. God is powerful. Genesis 14 reminds me of that power. You have 5 kings and armies against 4 kings and armies. The five kings LOST! But Abram had God and 318 men–and the same victorious kings were defeated. Why? God protects, fights for, and cares for His people. Whatever giant you’re facing in life, God’s power is perfected in weakness. What battle are you fighting that you need to hand over and let God be God?

January 4: Genesis 10-12, Romans 4
Why do you let fear of man control your thoughts, feelings, and actions INSTEAD of the fear of God?

January 3: Genesis 7-9, Romans 3
Noah obeyed all God commanded him to do. Could you replace “Noah” with your name? What’s keeping you from obedience? Later, Noah is caught naked and drunk! This points to his humanity as a sinner (Romans 3:23) in need of a Savior just like me and you!

January 2: Genesis 4-6, Romans 2
Does your obedience to God look like Noah–doing exactly as God instructs by faith?

January 1: Genesis 1-3, Romans 1
How often do you thank God for the faith of other believers?
