I’m all about using good tools and resources when it comes to studying God’s Word! If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you know that I’m an avid journaler who loves to document what God is doing through reading His Word and watching how He’s answering prayers or working in my life.
And there is the NEW Bible Study Tool out that I’m excited to share with you that walks you through Scripture. It’s called the Verse Mapping Bible.
Kristy Cambron started verse mapping and has expanded it into a NIV Verse Mapping Bible. The idea is that you’re not just reading a verse or passage of Scripture, but you’re given different Bible study tools to help you research different versions. She has developed a 5 step process:
- Choose: Select a verse and write it out.
- Compare: Record this verse in two or three other Bible translations and underline key words that are the same or different between translations.
- Research: Look up the Hebrew or Greek meaning for the underlined words and record it.
- Consider: Ask questions of the verse. Imagine what it would be like to have experienced what’s happening. Read the verses surrounding this verse and use other study tools to dig even deeper, if you prefer.
- Apply: What is God saying to you? How does this verse relate to your life today?
This is one of those tools that is so easy to use when studying Scripture. Even if you’re not looking for a bible, I would recommend using her verse mapping method! The questions really help when it comes to studying the word!
If you do decide to get the Verse Mapping Bible, she has included margins for journaling as well as Verse Mapping prompts as you’re reading.
